IFN closure - April 2024
This page contains information about the closure of IFN in April 2024 and background to that
IFN's Board agreed, at its meeting on 22 February 2024, with much regret, that the Inter Faith Network for the UK will close. A press release about this can be seen here. Operations will cease on 30 April.
Background to imminent closure
Information about the importance of IFN's work can be found here, and on how IFN is funded can be found here. A letter from IFN's Co-Chairs to the editor of the Sunday Telegraph, responding to articles published on 3 and 31 December, can be found here. Key points from a letter from IFN's Co-Chairs to the Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities of 19 January can be found here, and from a letter of 22 January here. The 22 January letter responds to a letter from the Secretary of State indicating that he was 'minded' to withdraw an offer of funding made to IFN over 6 months earlier because IFN has a Trustee who is a member of the Muslim Council of Britain, an IFN member body. A statement on behalf of IFN's Board in response to this letter can be seen here. A 7 February press release announcing that IFN's Board have taken an in principle decision to move toward closure of IFN unless the offered funding - or funding at an equivalent level from elsewhere - is received by 22 February can be found here. A copy of a Circular to member bodies about this can be seen here. An extra edition of IFN's Newsletter on this topic can be found here.
